NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell spoke to congressional leaders Monday about the ongoing security issue of drones on game days, a person with knowledge of the meeting told The Associated Press. The person, speaking to the AP on condition of anonymity because the discussions weren't publicized, said Goodell also joined Washington Commanders controlling owner Josh Harris in a series of meetings concerning the RFK stadium proposal and other league matters. Unapproved drones have become a problem for various sports leagues. There was a stoppage during the AFC championship game in Baltimore last January because a drone violated the restricted airspace. Another game in Baltimore in November 2023 was delayed twice because of a drone. The NFL said there were 2,845 drone flights into restricted air space during games in 2023. That number was up from 2,537 in 2022. The Federal Aviation Administration prohibits drones from flying within 3 nautical miles — about 3.45 miles — of stadiums during major sporting events with a seating capacity of 30,000 or more. The ban starts one hour before the scheduled time of a game or event and extends until one hour after it ends. The FAA banned drones within a radius of 30 nautical miles — about 35 miles — of Allegiant Stadium for the Super Bowl last February.
Prospera Financial Services Inc Has $476,000 Stock Position in iShares Global Clean Energy ETF (NASDAQ:ICLN)I'm A Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here! viewers are predicting that one contestant has sealed their fate for the first elimination after showing their "true colours". The 2024 series of the ITV reality show has been running for a week, with the latest group of celebrities swapping their luxurious lifestyles for basic jungle living. Tensions rose for the first time during Saturday night's episode (November 23), which saw late arrivals Maura Higgins and Richard Coles join the main camp. The mood soured when Dean McCullough and Alan Halsall clashed. After feasting on a large portion of junk food won by Maura and Richard through a secret task and a stomach-churning eating challenge, a sleepy Dean decided to take a nap. This coincided with chores needing to be done; Jane Moore went to collect firewood and reluctantly admitted due to camp rules: "I can't do it on my own". Alan noticed Jane leaving alone and sprang into action, choosing to wake Dean from his sleep to help. As Dean, groggy and confused from being woken up, barely reacted to Alan's question, "You don't fancy it? No? ", the Coronation Street actor joined Jane, ensuring she wasn't left to fend for herself, reports the Express . Following the incident, but clearly still feeling the effects, Dean walked over to Alan and Jane, specifically telling Alan, "You can go back now." Alan tried to justify his actions by stating: "I was trying to wake you up as soft as I could." This led Dean to sharply respond: "Listen to me. If you're gonna wake me up, you need to give me a minute, alright? It takes a couple of minutes for my contact lenses to get back working again, alright, so you don't need to turn around to me and say 'do you not fancy it? ' ok? And then turn around and walk away." Alan, attempting to explain further, said, "I've listened to you, Jane was halfway down here, that's why I went...", which Dean interrupted with, "Ok I get that but you need to give me a minute mate." The dispute continued to unfold. Dean later vented to the Bush Telegraph: "I opened my eyes and wee Tyrone from Coronation Street is like: 'Come on, mate, you need to go down to the bottom of the creek'." He elaborated on the disagreement by adding: "He didn't even give me a chance to say yes or no because he went: 'You don't fancy it? No? ' and ran. He was being a real camp leader. I was like: 'Whoa, whoa, whoa don't dig me out like that.' And I had to say to him: 'If you're going to say: 'Don't fancy it? ' - give me a chance'. Because, of course, I fancy it. I want to help Jane. I went straight down and helped her." Later, Dean was seen offering Jane an apology before helping to bring firewood back to the camp. Alan reflected privately in his Bush Telegraph, saying, "It was a flippant comment, I'm sorry if you took it in the wrong way. Wasn't actually meant like that, it was just a bit of a joke. If I was asleep and you woke me up, I won't fancy it either." Despite the reconciliation, viewers are already speculating that Dean will be the first to leave following his clash with fellow camper Alan. Social media was ablaze with commentary from fans, one of whom posted: "Dean's just earned himself the first elimination I think #ImACeleb." Another viewer echoed the sentiment, tweeting: "So that's Dean being voted out first #ImACeleb #imacelebrity @imacelebrity." Some spectators believe Dean might choose to exit the show, as one Twitter user expressed: "Hopefully Dean McCullough will walk out, he's insufferable. #ImACeleb." The sentiment continued, with another adding: "Honestly isn't it time for Dean to walk yet? He's made himself look horrible this episode #ImACeleb," and someone asserting: "Mark my words Dean will be the first to walk."

Thrivent Financial for Lutherans Sells 22,631 Shares of Eversource Energy (NYSE:ES)GREEN BAY, Wis. (AP) — Defending the run has been one of the Green Bay Packers’ weaknesses over the last several years. Not so much lately, though. Green Bay limited San Francisco to 16 carries for 44 yards in a 38-10 rout of the 49ers on Nov. 24, with two-time All-Pro Christian McCaffrey gaining 31 yards on 11 attempts. Four nights later, the Packers beat Miami 30-17 by holding the Dolphins to 39 yards on 14 carries. It was the first time since 1995 — and only the second time since 1950 — that the Packers had allowed fewer than 45 yards rushing in back-to-back games within the same season. “I think we’re playing harder and harder each week,” first-year defensive coordinator Jeff Hafley said. “And that’s how you play good defense.” That defense needs to be at its best Thursday as the Packers (9-3) close a stretch of three games in 12 days by visiting the NFC North-leading Detroit Lions (12-1), who have the NFL’s highest-scoring offense thanks in part to a rushing attack featuring the speedy Jahmyr Gibbs and the physical David Montgomery. “Gibbs is a great running back,” defensive lineman Kenny Clark said. “I really think the offense really starts with him, honestly. He can do everything — receive, in-and-out runner, can do stretch, duo plays. We’ve got to have all hands on deck with Gibbs. And then Montgomery, he’s a great complement to him. He can do everything, also.” The Lions were the first team since the 1975 Miami Dolphins to rush for at least 100 yards and a touchdown in each of their first 11 games. The streak ended on Thanksgiving when the Lions rushed for 194 yards but didn’t have a touchdown on the ground in a 23-20 victory over the Chicago Bears. Green Bay outrushed Detroit 138-124 in the Packers’ 24-14 loss to the Lions on Nov. 3 at Lambeau Field. Montgomery rushed for 73 yards while Gibbs ran for 65 yards and a touchdown. Gibbs has 973 yards this season, which ranks fourth in the NFL. Montgomery ran for a combined 192 yards and four touchdowns in the Lions’ two games against the Packers last season. Green Bay’s run defense has come a long way since. The Packers have allowed 106.6 yards rushing per game this season, which ranks eighth in the league. The Packers haven’t closed a season in the top 10 in run defense since 2016 and have finished outside the top 20 in four of the last six years, including 26th in 2022 and 28th in 2023. “I think Haf’s doing a good job of mixing up the fronts and some of the coverages, but really it’s ultimately about tackling, swarming, getting many hats to the football,” Packers coach Matt LaFleur said. “And our guys have really embraced that style of play.” The Packers are yielding 4.2 yards per carry to rank seventh in the league after finishing 22nd or worst in that category each of the last three seasons. They haven’t closed a season ranked in the top 10 in yards allowed per carry since 2017. Hafley says the improvement starts up front. “The interior part of our D-line has done such a good job these last few games,” Hafley said. “They really have. They’re hard to block. They’re staying in their gaps. They’re tearing off of blocks, and it’s the same thing with those defensive ends. They’re setting edges, they’re forcing the ball back inside, they’re getting off blocks and then we’re tackling and we’re running to the ball and there’s multiple people to the ball. “And when you turn on our tape right now and when you freeze it, you see that. You see a lot of guys around the football. And then you’re not afraid, right? Like if I have an open-field tackle and I know eight other guys are coming, I’m going to take my shot because I know if I miss, it’s going to be, ‘Bang, bang, bang,’ we’ve got three or four other guys there, and we’re starting to play faster.” Green Bay's defense has the Lions’ attention. “They’ve been playing well,” Detroit coach Dan Campbell said. “I mean, they have, really, all season, and nothing has changed.” AP Sports Writer Larry Lage contributed to this report. Article content A citywide parking ban drops Sunday night in the wake of this weekend’s snow dump. The first phase of the ban starting Sunday at 7 p.m. is expected to last for three to five days, the city said in a Saturday news release. Environment Canada forecasters said come Sunday morning, there could be as much as 25 cm of snow on the ground in the Edmonton area, with some parts of eastern Alberta walloped with up to 35 cm. A snowfall warning issued Friday remained in effect Saturday, with the “long period of snowfall” and its “significant accumulations” continuing into the night, when it was to finally taper. “The city has experienced blowing and drifting of snow, in addition to the significant accumulation in the last 24 hours. A Phase 1 parking ban is necessary to ensure the major roadways are cleared and safe for all vehicles,” Val Dacyk, general supervisor of infrastructure field operations, parks and roads services, said in the Saturday afternoon release. “Keeping major roadways cleared of parked vehicles is essential for crews to clear roads. We anticipate the parking ban will remain in effect for three to five days.” During the first phase, crews will clear arterial roads, collector roads, bus routes (roads marked with seasonal no parking signage) and roads within business improvement areas. Parking is prohibited in these areas until the clearing of the roadways is complete. Motorists may continue to park on residential streets. But vehicles parked on hills along arterial roads, collector roads and bus routes in the downtown area will be ticketed and may be towed, warns the city. Drivers are reminded that parking is also allowed on roads as soon as they have been cleared, as long as parking is allowed there normally. Residents can refer to the roadways snow clearing map for clearing status of roadways. And, warns the city, EPark zones are not active during this phase of the parking ban while these areas are cleared. Vehicles parked on parking ban routes after 7 p.m. on Sunday may be ticketed, continues the warning. Crews and equipment will be working 24 hours a day until Phase 1 roads are clear. Once the first parking ban phase is complete, a separate announcement may be made if the city determines a second phase for residential and industrial parking is necessary. Motorists are reminded to drive to conditions, giving snow and ice clearing crews room as they work. The winter blast also triggered the City of Edmonton’s extreme weather response Friday night, with the city running one more nightly shelter shuttle bus, allowing anyone to hop on at every stop, and open 50 more shelter beds temporarily until extreme weather, including -20 wind chills, subside.Sokoto sets stage for economic growth with World Bank partnership
