At this conference, Victors Home Solutions, which has been in business since 2008, received the award for Residential Roofing Contractor of the Year. Victor Smolyanov , Founder and CEO, attributes much of his success to the opportunity to give back to the communities in which he operates: "Last year we were blessed to give away 23 roofs, and this year it's going to be 40, and that has a huge impact," he said. "For us, it's one out of 4,000 roofs, but for them, it's potentially a life-changing event, allowing them to live more comfortably without having to worry about moving their bed when it rains or having a tarp on." This marks the 20th year of the conference, and it is said to be a must-attend event for roofing professionals. In addition to the amenities available on-site, there are many opportunities for education, exploration of new roofing technologies, and networking with top organizations in the roofing industry, such as Victors Home Solutions. Victors Home Solutions is recognized for their impact on local communities through their Give Back program. A program that has provided many with a roof over their heads. Is any contraception, other than the rhythm method and the like, “unnatural” and therefore suspect? Do states have a stake in promoting fertility, and does that interest allow them to ban or restrict abortion? Can the Comstock statute, a social-purity law from 1873, which plenty of people even then thought was antiquated, be dusted off and used to criminalize the mailing of abortion pills, as Project 2025 proposes? There’s something to be learned from these earlier struggles and strategies—from the serious mistakes these movement leaders made (Sanger’s embrace of eugenics above all), as well as from their bold commitment to free speech, civil disobedience, and sexual fulfillment. This release was published on openPR.Athens, Dec 23 (AP) Members of Greece's former royal family expressed “deep emotion” Monday at a decision to reinstate their Greek citizenship, ending a decades-old dispute with the country's government. Greece abolished the monarchy in a 1974 referendum and the former royal family was stripped of its citizenship two decades later during a dispute over the former royal estate that passed to state control. In a decision published in the government gazette, dated Friday, citizenship was granted to 10 members of the former royal family. They include the five children of the late King Constantine II and former Queen Anne-Marie as well as to five of their grandchildren. “It is with deep emotion that, after 30 years, we hold the Greek citizenship again. The law of 1994 deprived us of our citizenship, rendering us stateless with all that this entails in terms of individual rights and great emotional distress,” the former royal family said in a statement in Greek and English. “Our father and our family fully respected the result of the 1974 referendum,” the statement said. “However, the provision of the 1994 law on citizenship, a result of the political status at the time, was not befitting of a former head of the Greek state and an institution that served the country faithfully. The passing of our father marked the end of an era.” Constantine died last year at 82 having only returned to Greece in his 70s. He remained a controversial figure over claims that he failed to distance himself from heated political rivalries while he reigned as king between 1964 and 1973. He was ousted during a military dictatorship that collapsed the following year. Constantine's family has close ties with European royals through his marriage to Danish princess Anne-Marie. His sister is Emeritus Queen Sofia of Spain and he was second cousin to Britain's King Charles III and godfather to Prince William. Ending the dispute, Constantine's children agreed last week to adopt a surname — De Grece, from the French for “of Greece” — while formally recognizing Greece's status as a presidential parliamentary democracy and renouncing any claims to royal authority or titles. “After 50 years since democracy's restoration, we have a strong democracy and protected constitution that can defend itself, with laws that apply without any footnotes or exceptions,” government spokesman Pavlos Marinakis said Friday before the decision was published. Constantine's five children are Alexia, 58; Pavlos, 56; Nikolaos, 54; Theodora, 40; and Philippos, 37. Pavlos' five children were also granted citizenship: Maria-Olympia, 27; Constantine-Alexios, 25; Achileas-Andreas, 23; Odysseas-Kimon, 19; and Aristidis-Stavros, 15. Other royal family members, including the 78-year-old former Queen Anne-Marie, did not apply. (AP) GSP (This story has not been edited by THE WEEK and is auto-generated from PTI)

10 Most Influential People in Football Right Now [Ranked]People invited by the National Science and Technology Council to attend next month’s CES in Las Vegas hold placards at an event in Taipei yesterday.Photo: Hsu Tze-lin, Taipei Times By Hsu Tze-lin and Jonathan Chin / Staff reporter, with staff writer Seventy-two inventions have been selected to showcase the nation’s technological innovation at next year’s CES — formerly an initialism for the Consumer Electronics Show — the National Science and Technology Council (NSTC) said yesterday. 請繼續往下閱讀... The CES is to take place in Las Vegas from Jan. 7 to 10. Those selected were mainly related to artificial intelligence (AI), digital medicine, smart city, sustainability and vehicle technology, NSTC Minister Wu Cheng-wen (吳誠文) said. Smart city technology, AI and digital medicine accounted for 37 percent, 25 percent and 24 percent of the chosen entries respectively, he added. Taiwanese inventors’ participation in CES 2025 is a boon for the nation’s efforts to build international markets, supply chains and sovereign AI technology, Wu said, adding that the event helps connect innovators with investors. The council’s vision is for the nation to use innovative technology in the service industry to supplement the high-tech manufacturing sector’s contributions to the economy, he said. On Jan. 3, officials are to unveil a project to facilitate development and manufacture of general utility technology that can be applied across the economy, Wu said. The National Laboratory Animal Center, FaceHeart Corp and R2C2 Limited clinched a CES innovation award, the NSTC said in a statement. The National Laboratory Animal Center’s invention — an integrated system to simulate blood clot formation to replace animal testing — was also its first, it said, adding that the platform can model clotting and pharmaceutical effects in multiple species. FaceHeart’s creation was an AI-based imagery system that can derive a 90 percent accurate measurement of a person’s cardiovascular health index from a 45-second scan, the NSTC said. The R2C2 Arc system is a mobile platform that can manage industrial robot fleets, featuring large language model AI and block-chain enabled information security measures, it said. Ministry of Digital Affairs Chief Secretary Betty Hu (胡貝蒂) said the ministry has obtained a NT$10 billion (US$305.89 million) budget from the council to fund Taiwanese AI and other digital technology developers whose products are not monetized yet. The selected inventors are welcome to apply for government funding, as they are presumed to be eligible under the ministry’s guidelines, she said.
