Job Summary:

Create a culture of quality throughout Bowmar rooted in continual improvement in the pursuit of long-term sustainability. Coach, mentor and implement the tools of the Toyota Production system as a basis for achieving the Bowmar Vision.

Develop and implement the Bowmar Quality Management System to ensure products are produced with the highest quality, lowest cost in the shortest lead time. Lead efforts to eliminate waste in operations using the tools of the Toyota Production System. Develop and implement manufacturing processes which ensure repeatable production quality at the source.

Direct quality efforts to ensure that requirements for processing materials into finished products conform to all quality standards. Oversee quality compliance for both incoming and outgoing shipments.

Actively participate as member of the leadership team of Bowmar providing input on the strategies and tactics required to bring the Bowmar Vision to life.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Achieve quality assurance operational objectives by contributing information and analysis to strategic plans and reviews; preparing and completing action plans; implementing production, productivity, quality, and customer-service standards; identifying and resolving problems; completing audits; determining system improvements; implementing change
  • Meet quality assurance financial objectives by estimating requirements; preparing an annual budget; scheduling expenditures; analyzing variances
  • Develop quality assurance plans by identifying critical control points and preventive measures; establishing critical limits, monitoring procedures, corrective actions, and verification procedures
  • Validate quality processes by establishing product specifications and quality attributes; measuring production; documenting evidence; determining operational and performance qualification; writing and updating quality assurance procedures
  • Maintain and improve product quality by eliminating variation. Use data driven, scientific methods to determine root causes and develop and implement counter-measures and improve processes
  • Prepare quality documentation and reports by collecting, analyzing and summarizing information and trends including failed processes, stability studies, recalls, corrective actions, and re-validations
  • Update job knowledge by studying trends in and developments in quality management; participate in educational opportunities; read professional publications; maintain personal networks; participate in professional organizations
  • Act as a Kata methodologies coach for process improvements
  • Capture management of opportunities both new and existing to include in proposals, plans and quotes

Education/Experience Requirements:

  • Requires a college degree, preferably in a technical field, and five years related experience, including supervision

Level of Supervision:

  • This position is responsible for overseeing the activities of union production QA Auditors as well as assisting with supervision of other areas as needed

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

  • Must be able to sit, stand and walk for short periods of time
  • This position must be able to write and speak clearly
  • Vision requirements include close vision and color vision with ability to adjust focus. Must meet vision requirements per Bowmar LLC Procedure QP-005
  • Occasional lifting (maximum 50 lbs)
  • Will be exposed to general office and machine shop working conditions. The typical work environment has low noise and moderate temperature levels
  • Some travel required to visit suppliers and customers and for required educational activities
