Job Summary:

Under limited supervision, performs semi-routine and moderately complex activities for the development, implementation, and maintenance of manufacturing processes.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Instruct employees and make recommendations on process techniques, tooling requirements, set-up criteria, and program information
  • Develops detailed manufacturing routing process from print specifications
  • Monitor and set production rates
  • Identifies and solves (troubleshoots) manufacturing issues on new programs and legacy products

Skills & Abilities:

  • Must have programming ability of the CNC and VMC’s through Master Cam
  • Must have prior machining experience in various machining methods
  • Must have ability to develop detailed manufacturing routing processes from print specifications
  • Must have knowledge of tooling, material, and their related feed and speeds
  • Must have knowledge of fixturing techniques per machine, per machined feature, and per part feature
  • Must have knowledge and ability to instruct employees on process techniques, tooling requirements, set up criteria, and program information
  • Must have excellent verbal communication skills
  • Must have Solid Works CAD / design software knowledge
  • Must have program management skills
  • Must have effective writing skills
  • Must be able to use computer: Excel, Work, PowerPoint. Solid Works a plus
  • Must be able to read blueprints
  • Must have the ability to organize, multi-task, prioritize and be flexible
  • Must exhibit a positive and professional attitude and appearance

Educational Requirements:

  • Typically requires a technical degree or high school education with trade school, programming, or equivalent and two to four years experience

Level of Supervision:

  • This position is typically not responsible for the supervision of any other positions. However, this position may fill in for the Shop Supervisor, when he/she is absent

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:

  • Must be able to sit, walk, stand, talk or hear, use hands to finger, handle or feel, and reach with hand for arms for extended periods of time, and climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl and taste or smell occasionally
  • Occasional lifting required up to 50 pounds
  • Incumbent will be exposed to general office and production working conditions that include exposure to florescent lights and may include risk of radiation from computer monitor and electrical shock. The typical work environment has moderate office noise and moderate temperature levels, although products may be tested at extreme temperatures, and occasionally may include wet, humid conditions, working near moving mechanical parts, and fumes or airborne particles
